The fine print

Gym rules.

The Code of Conduct covers how we treat each other — these are the practical rules for the floor and the recovery deck.

The short version: look after each other, look after the gear, and ask if you’re not sure. The Code of Conduct covers how we treat each other — these are the practical rules for the floor.

Classes and booking

  • Book your spot in the GRC app. Bookings close 30 minutes before class starts.
  • If nobody’s booked 30 minutes out, the class may be cancelled — book ahead to lock it in.
  • Missed the booking window? If the class is running, you can check in right up until it starts.
  • Classes are for ages 13 and up.

Training

  • Tell a coach about any injury — old or new — before training, even if it feels minor.
  • Follow coach instructions for warm-ups, lifts and workouts, even on movements you know.
  • Don’t attempt lifts or skills well beyond your current ability without a coach involved.
  • If something feels off — for you or anyone else — tell a coach immediately.

The gear and the space

  • Wipe down equipment after use — benches, bikes, rowers, and anything shared.
  • Put gear back where it belongs.
  • Lower, don’t drop: empty bars and bars loaded with only 10 kg or 5 kg plates. With 15 kg plates or bigger on the bar, dropping is fine — including with a 10 or 5 added on top.
  • Never slam dumbbells — it’s noisy, dangerous, and rough on the gear.
  • Share space and equipment, especially during open gym and peak hours, and be mindful of classes in session.
  • Keep phone use respectful — no loud calls, no filming others without permission, and keep tripods off walkways and out of class floor space.

The recovery area

The recovery deck (ice bath + saunas) is self-run, so these rules carry the safety:

  • Check in at reception before using the area, and book your slot in the app — members can book 7 days ahead, packs and drop-ins 3 days ahead. Sessions are 50 minutes.
  • Shower before you get in the ice bath.
  • Never plunge alone — use the area with someone else there.
  • Read the posted entry rules before your first session; your first visit includes a quick run-through with us.
  • Sit it out and talk to us first if you’re pregnant, have a heart condition, or are unwell.
  • No alcohol before sauna or ice bath sessions.
  • Under 16? You’re welcome with a parent or guardian present — the recovery area is 16+ to use on your own.

Substances

  • No alcohol or recreational drugs before or during training. If you appear under the influence, you’ll be asked to leave.
  • No illegal substances on the premises — including at club social events.
